Temple Israel is honored to support our members during life’s most meaningful moments. Our clergy and staff are here to guide you through each milestone with tradition, warmth, and care.
Brit Milah (Bris) & Baby Naming
• Brit Milah (Covenant of Circumcision) is held on the 8th day of a baby boy’s life, performed by a mohel with blessings from our clergy.
• Brit Banot (Baby Naming) celebrates the birth of a daughter through a personalized ceremony at home, in the synagogue, or during a Shabbat service.
B'nai Mitzvah
Becoming a Bar/Bat Mitzvah is a significant milestone, marking a young person’s transition into Jewish adulthood. Temple Israel provides comprehensive preparation with clergy, tutors, and educators, ensuring a meaningful journey and celebration.

Aufruf & Wedding Ceremonies
• Aufruf: Couples are honored with an aliyah the Shabbat before their wedding.
• Weddings: Our rabbis work closely with couples to create a personal and meaningful ceremony, incorporating traditional elements such as Sheva Brachot, the Ketubah, and breaking the glass.
Anniversaries & Birthdays
Couples celebrating a milestone anniversary or individuals marking a special birthday may receive a blessing from the bimah during Shabbat services.
Funerals & Mourning
Jewish tradition provides deep comfort in times of loss. Temple Israel assists members with funeral arrangements and Shiva observances, in partnership with the Hebrew Cemetery of Charlotte. If you experience a loss, please contact the synagogue, and we will connect you with our clergy immediately.
