At Temple Israel, the B’nai Mitzvah experience is more than just a ceremony—it is a journey of Jewish learning, leadership, and community engagement. Our program is designed to support each student individually while fostering meaningful connections with peers, mentors, and clergy.
B’nai Mitzvah Academy
Sundays | 12:00–2:00 PM (Immediately After Religious School)
The B’nai Mitzvah Academy provides students with one-on-one tutoring, peer study groups, and guided mentorship, creating a well-rounded and supportive learning environment.
Program Highlights:
-
Dedicated one-on-one tutoring with Cantor Lissek and trained B’nai Mitzvah Madrichim
-
Peer Study Groups (Chevruta-style learning) – A traditional Jewish study method where students learn together, ask questions, and support one another
-
Pizza & Social Connection – Strengthening community and friendships through shared experiences
Students are encouraged to participate in all three components of the program, but families have the option to pick up their child after their tutoring session if preferred.
“The gap between where you are and where you want to be in your Hebrew preparations is REPETITION.” – Cantor Lissek
Through consistent learning and peer support, students gain confidence in leading prayers, chanting Torah and Haftarah, and embracing their role as Jewish young adults.

Sundays | 12:00–2:00 PM (on Hebrew School Days)
